Transcendental Adventure!

Unscheduled Departure is the story of Rowan and Finn, or at least a version of the two. One decision creates a parallel universe and Ro ends up with a Finn that is not her Finn. Strange phone calls from a private number are from her Finn in another dimension. Franklin kept my mind engaged and my heart pounding as I read every word. A few twists and turns surprised and delighted me. I wouldn't expect anything less from the Paranormal Pro Franklin. She wrote a transcendental adventure that will keep me thinking for years to come.

I've known T.M Franklin from Facebook and had to yet to have a chance to read one of her books. I'm usually working or resting at home and reading something quick. So when she posted that this story was free for only a couple days with that preview-- I knew I had to read that one and I am so glad that I did.

It started off with Fin getting nervous about heading to the airport and Rowan of course not wanting him to leave her and go across country to help his family out after a family emergency. After the trip to the airport, Ro starts to notice things. I don't want to leave any spoilers, but that is where you notice things are amidst.

I love the suspense, even though I would reach out and tell T.M. on Facebook about my reactions as I continued on. :-) I really got on her when I finally reached the mean cliffhanger. I told her, well asked if there is a sequel. I need to know who was on the other side of the phone call. Ah, I'm getting all anxious. Anyhow, it's a great book and I look forward to reading more of her books....and hopefully a sequel, hint hint.

THIS WAS FABULOUS!!! Yes, all caps. Ms. Franklin caught me with the intrigue, with the questions, with the paranormal, with the shivers she made me feel. I loved this. I sincerely love how she leads us through the twists and turns of the mystery.

Then...when you think you have it figured out...she throws more twists at you! It was delicious. While I enjoyed all of the books in this anthology, this is the one that I loved the most. Ms. Franklin is a wonderful writer and I'll read everything she writes. I hope you enjoy it, too!

The new interns are unknowing parts of a new breeding program to improve the captive male breeding stock.
Whether they know it or not the Amazon Host views them as breeding slaves. The Security Detail, aka “SD,” is the “Full Blood hardcore armed security force tasked with protecting the Amazon Host from enemies internal and external. The Amazon Host is made up of 60 Amazon Houses with different House Goddesses, 53 surviving Houses and seven extinct ones; the House Heads form the Council which is lead by The High Priestess. The Amazon Host can trace its history back 3000 years.
SD leader Elsa has it in for Cáel and wants to see him dead or in a shock collar. Head of the Amazon version of the KBG, Ms. Katrina Love, VP of Executive Services and Cáel’s boss conspires to keep him alive and the New Directive Program going. Shielding the other males, who work in other departments, from the facts; Cáel struggles to survive the 84 days on his terms. Buffy one of his supervisors enjoys bow hunting deadly predators for relaxation and at the end of the internship intends to hunt down Cáel and have her way with him.
Cáel’s duties include picking up executives’ drunken granddaughters at the local police station and escorting his boss’s nieces to and from school. Fatherless Aya (9 years old) and Cáel bond emotionally and spiritually, in a pseudo-parent child relationship.
By day 4 of 84, the trips to the Police Station lead to a new relationship with a NYPD officer, Nikita, daughter of the motherly Desk Sergeant. Cáel is seducing the children’s teachers; arranging dates with the school’s female security guard and starts a sexual relationship with the tasty waitress Odette all to satisfy his overactive libido. In a flash of brilliance or idiocy Cáel invites Aya (9), Europa (13) and Loraine (16) for a sleepover at his apartment; mother approves.
Cáel is nervous about his sleepover with Aya, Europa, and Loraine. Not to worry Cáel’s new girlfriend, the armed and attractive, Nikita Kutuzov of the NYPD has agreed to chaperone. What could go wrong? Day five should be fun as Cáel struggles to avoid any errors that could put him in an Amazon shock collar at the closest breeding camp.

Sorrow, Horror and Hope.

I really enjoyed this book. The Main Characters are each given first POV in alternating chapters. They are flawed heroes, they could be you, they could be me. I like that about a book. I also found interesting the way the author incorporates his own battle with MS into the character profile of one of MC without making it about the story. He is shown living with his limitations, but not limited by his disease. It is a story of sorrow, sadness and one of hope. And one I hope will lead to this becoming a series as I think there are many more stories to tell in this universe. Very well done. A brand new author and one I plan I reading every chance I get.

Where No Misdeed is Hidden

Meet Julian and his two friends, Janet and Theo. They are sin collectors. They destroy demons and stop demon-directed perversions, and save victims. Julian is not your normal main character who would have been stronger than Superman as he saves the world from evil. He has multiple sclerosis, and yet he must physically destroy very powerful demons. With the help of his two friends, who are also sin collectors, he succeeds - most of the time.

JB Murphy is very skilled at describing action scenes. No action is wasted. You almost feel each punch, and agonize with the character as he must give into his illness. You feel his compassion for the victims of these demons, and little sympathy for those who have given in to the perverse pleasures the demons have provided. Murphy's characters come alive and haunt your dreams.

I'm hoping there are more books with this theme. I was delighted, appalled, frustrated, enraged, and triumphant along with the characters. The Sin Collectors is well worth the read.

Wonderfully original

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Wonderfully original, the story takes you into a realm in which you didn't realize you would be traveling. Gods, reincarnations and demons merge with a real world issue like MS. The chapters alternate the character's point of view, allowing you to really get to know them and feel their pain, fear and frustration. Fantastic world building and character development make this book a must read. Definitely on you don't want to miss.

This is one "killer" of a post-apocalyptic series. BATTLE LINES is the fifth book in the series and the author is ramping up for the grand finale.

I have read the entire series to date:

1. Frontier Justice (The Survivalist)
2. Anarchy Rising (The Survivalist)
3. Judgment Day (The Survivalist)
4. Madness Rules (The Survivalist)

In this Book 5 of the series, the Battle Lines (The Survivalist) are being drawn. Marshal Mason Raines and his giant dog Bowie, head to Lexington, Kentucky trying to track down the reasons behind the slaughter of the other U.S. Marshals. They end up saving and picking up strays along the way.

Mason's father, Tanner Raines, is doing his best to protect young Samantha Glass, daughter of President Glass, and teach her survival skills along the way, and they are always running into some kind of trouble.

The book is about 50/50 Mason and Tanner's stories with some politics thrown in. Fast moving, too believable, the book ended much too quickly and now I have to wait for book 6, "Finest Hour: Survivalist" - which will hopefully bring a sense of closure to everyone's stories.

A Return To Form: Battle Lines Delivers

Arthur Bradley's latest installment to The Survivalist series is both a return to form and a sign of the author's evolution as a writer. Concise, fast-paced, high energy and emotion fill nearly every page of Battle Lines. Dr. Bradley employs a formulaic approach to his novels--one that fails to grow old and is undoubtedly appreciated by his readers; fans of the series know what to expect going into each book. The beloved protagonists of the previous four novels return facing new threats and unexpected perils as they pursue their respective aims; the reviled antagonists grow ever darker and more heinous in their villainy.

I felt like the previous novel (The Survivalist Madness Rules) represented a brief departure from what had made the previous three books so exciting: believable characters struggling to survive in a hauntingly realistic post-apocalyptic world rife with danger both environmental and circumstantial. It was the only book of the series that felt forced, filled with scenarios that left this reader scratching his head and wondering what was to come in the next installment.

Battle Lines not only allayed those fears--it far surpassed the expectations that I had going in. The requisite action moments were page-turningly engaging but the emotional pull of numerous instances caught me off-guard and caused me to realize how much I care for the characters involved. With three incredibly strong novels and a serviceable one to stand up against, Battle Lines might just be the best of the series; I recommend it highly.

As always, I suggest working your way through the series from the very beginning as well as exploring Dr. Bradley's equally well-written, informative non-fiction works available on both Amazon and B&N.

More great End of the World fiction!

Another fast moving, nail-biter from Dr. Bradley. Fifth in a fast moving post apocalyptic series, full of prep and tactical ideas, Battle Lines follows the on-going adventures and struggles of a heroic US Marshall and his convict father in an America decimated by a flu epidemic. I knew before I started this book (I’ve read the whole series up to now), I’d need to get everything else out of the way, since I wouldn’t want to put it down. Yeah, it’s that good.

This book is a blend of fact, fiction, fantasy, humor, amazing action, and pathos. Get ready for solid info, neo-Zombies, Pishtacos, and lots of twists, turns, and yep, romance. Did I mention it is, IMO, well written and edited (sometimes a scarce thing in Post Apocalyptic lit)?

The author brings to his task an encyclopedic knowledge of survival, tactics, and hand to hand combat (I understand he’s a black belt in Kenpo Karate). Lots of great ideas embedded in the story. I found myself researching stuff in the story, like, the breed of his faithful dog, Bowie. Bowie’s an Irish Wolfhound and he lines up pretty nicely with the characteristics (and enormous size) of this ancient breed (with a bit of poetic license thrown in for good measure ofcourse).

The ending sets the hook pretty deep for #6 in the series, which, as I understand it will constitute the “grand finale.” Stay tuned y’all! I can't wait!

Fun Bite-Sized Read

Just finished this and it is definitely a fun read. Seems like there is a lot more coming judging by the ending, and I am looking forward to it. Stoll does a great job developing a set of characters, an interesting plot, and a new "universe" while hooking you to want more. I will definitely grab the next book in this series when it comes out.

It should be mentioned that this is more of a novella than a novel, so it is perfect if you are looking for a weekend read but don't want a huge commitment.

A Refreshingly Fun YA With Suspense and Engaging Characters

This book is one of the most realistic and fun teenage fantasy books I've read recently. You see a lot of teen fantasies these days that really glorify the main heroes and heroines in a very unrealistic way, making them very fantasy-like themselves and unrealistic. The Rift puts normal, ordinary-day teens in a supernatural situation. This provides the reader a lot of entertainment! We get a lot of laughs from seeing these ordinary teens learn to deal with crazy, fantastical events and people bombarding their world. We also see how these ordinary teens become inordinary and heroic from the journey in this story. That is MUCH more satisfying than other books' wooden, glorified teen heroes.

The Rift acts as a prequel which is full of suspense and rushes you into action, and leaves you hanging at the end of a breathtaking cliff. It promises that when you fall off that cliff, info the sequels to this book, it will be an awesome ride! I really look forward to reading more of Stoll's work. His writing and his characters have a lot of promise. I also want to say I love the fantasy elements in this book. Stoll makes original magic and describes in a way that isn't too overly-laden with unnecessary description (like many other fantasy authors).

Hurrah for a new, breakout YA fantasy author! Check this out - you won't regret it!

A fun read. Very short, satisfying as a first volume but I'm looking forward to reading the final book in the series. There are some interesting fantasy elements on which I am left wanting expansion, and a fair number of questions left unanswered, so it doesn't quite work as a stand-alone, but it's not trying to be :) Worth the read, but don't expect it to feel complete.
Stoll deals with some intense themes in a raw and honest and yet delicate way, but then there are also plenty of moments that had me laughing aloud. The characters are fun and relatable, and the relationships between them feel authentic: their perspectives give the story a unique angle that keeps the plot from being too cliche. Definitely a page turner.

BREAKS IN REALITY is the third book in a series which begins with Seams in Reality.

Phillip is a young boy with the mind of an old master sorcerer. He plans to take control of every sorcerer in the United States. He recently devised a spell which gives him the power to accomplish this daunting goal. Andrew and Charley, two apprentice sorcerers, must stop Phillip. Andrew is still in his first year of training, but his unique talents make him the best man for the deadly mission. His girlfriend, Charley, has extraordinary abilities of her own. Their instructor, Tonya, and a Special Forces operator named Tungsten must guide the apprentices to victory.

Like Phillip, Andrew has also discovered a new spell. The finding might change the lives of all sorcerers, but the knowledge is forbidden, and Andrew must investigate in secret. He even lies to the people he loves to hide his research, but reckless curiosity compels him to carry on.

The other three books in the Seams in Reality Series are SEAMS IN REALITY, CRACKS IN REALITY, and SHARDS OF REALITY. Interested readers might also try APOCALYPSE CULT, the first book in the Gray Spear Society Series.

A tiny lie...

Another excellent addition to this series!
Andrew and Charley are continuing to search for Phillip when all the other sorcerers begin to behave differently.
When Charley starts exhibiting the same behavior, Andrew knows something big is happening and Phillip has to be at the root!
But the problem is that ALL the changes aren't bad. A tiny lie, hidden in the middle of truth, can make a huge difference!
I sure hope Alex Siegel is working on the next one because this one left us hanging with major issues unresolved.
This adventure series is fun for me, yes I'm old, but is also appropriate for young adults.

Very nicely done at the end of this book for the cliffhanger by the author. This was a very entertaining and fast paced action packed story. It was one of those books that are hard to put down. I hope that the Author does not give up on this series and just give them godlike powers at the end like some other series...
